Sarah Lapinski

MS, LAT, ATC, PES, Injury Prevention Specialist

I was a military brat, but spent the majority of my childhood in Gloucester, Virginia. I grew up active and enjoyed participating in soccer, volleyball and swimming. I was then introduced to rowing, which became my passion. Being involved in sports led me to my strong interest in athletic training. I shadowed and assisted my high school athletic trainer who inspired me greatly with her work ethic and kindness. I went to undergraduate school at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia for my Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. After graduation, I began a graduate assistantship at College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina where I cared for Women’s soccer, Men’s and Women’s Tennis and Co-Ed Sailing teams. I obtained my Master of Science in Exercise Science and Health promotion with a concentration in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention at California University of Pennsylvania.

I have been an NATA certified athletic trainer for 11 years. I am a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Virginia. I am a Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I worked in the college setting at the College of Charleston during my graduate assistantship with my primary teams being Women’s Soccer and Men’s and Women’s Tennis with secondary coverage of Co-Ed Sailing. During this time, I also provided secondary coverage for the East Coast Hockey League team in Charleston, South Carolina, the Stingrays. Upon completing my graduate assistantship, I began working at Dorman High School in Roebuck, South Carolina. I moved into the clinic setting, where I was the Clinical and Surgical Coordinator for an Orthopedic Surgeon at the Spartanburg Regional Sports Medicine Institute in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This experience broadened my athletic training knowledge immensely working under such an intelligent orthopedic surgeon, who always made time to teach me. I remained in the clinic setting until being hired by ATP as an Injury Prevention Specialist in the industrial athletic training setting.

Being reliable, having good communication and developing a trustworthy relationship are the keys to being a successful injury prevention specialist.

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light” -Albus Dumbledore

I am an Injury Prevention Specialist, and I have a strong interest in manual therapy techniques. I have completed many continuing education courses with a focus in massage and I feel that I enjoy incorporating that in my care.

I think people often do not know enough about their bodies, whether it be mental or physical, and how best to care for themselves. I think giving people those tools for self-care will allow for healthier and happier individuals.

I enjoy feeling like a valued team member in the warehouse and having the opportunity to educate people on health and wellness for both their job and their life.
